The new V2-r is the top-of-the-line carbon fiber monocoque frame from Colnago. Designed to ensure lightness, rigidity and aerodynamics, the result is a high-quality bicycle capable of handling all terrain. It is based on the V1-r, but it boasts some details that dramatically improve its performance. The weight remains unchanged from the V1-r at 835 grams for a medium sized frame, and the same grade and construction of carbon fiber was also used. The lateral rigidity of the bottom-bracket increased by 13%, and by 4% at the headtube – making the V2-r even more rigid and brilliant during acceleration. From an aesthetic point of view, the integrated seat clamp is a feature which gives the frame cleaner lines, and the toptube/headtube junction has also been redesigned. Cable-routing is internal and central – through the top of the toptube in the same manner as on the Concept. Both brakes are direct-mount, with the rear located at the top of the rear triangle. The V2-r also has clearance for up to 28c tires
Both front and rear brakes are direct-mount. The main advantage of this comes from ideal integration, both structural and aerodynamic, with the frame and fork. In terms of performance, it translates to a lightweight, rigid and more powerful system, with superior aesthetic cleanliness.
Greater braking power
The V2-r uses carbon monocoque dropouts, with an internally-mounted, replaceable derailleur hanger.
The advantages in terms of strength, weight and longevity are significant.
Longer life of the frame
To maximize aerodynamics and integration, we used a special seat post for the new V2-r. Using the proven forged aluminum head used on the models currently in production, a small diameter tube (about 27.2 mm) has been designed and constructed to provide comfort. The aerodynamic profile (also with a truncated profile – matching the seattube) guarantees the best aerodynamic performance. The seat clamp integrated in the toptube helps make the lines even cleaner.
The V2-r uses Colnago’s TF82.5 standard. It combines the reliability and practicality of a threaded (BSA) bottom bracket, the width and the great rigidity of the PressFit standard. Inside the bottom bracket juncture there is an aluminum threaded sleeve in which two lightweight alloy cups are treaded into. Within these, the bearings are pressed – removable when needed. The TF82.5 standard is compatible with all PressFit 86.5 (BB86) bearings.
